Writing, Harvest and Counting in Twos
What a busy time we are having in Sycamore Class! We have been enjoying using The Gruffalo and the characters from the story to help us with our writing. Lots of us are learning how to punctuate a sentence with capital letters and a full stop.
We have been practising counting in twos and we are getting quicker every day. We have been counting everything from footprints to pencils, each other and leaves.
In Science we have learnt to identify different parts of a tree and have begun to learn about their different functions. We know that the roots help to hold the tree still and stop it falling over as well as collecting water to help the tree to grow. We also found out that the leaves on a tree at the top are called the crown. We think this is because you wear a crown on your head and trees are important.
We had lots of fun on Thursday when we collected, named and classified different leaves from trees in our school grounds. There were lots of Sycamore, Beech and Oak leaves to collect.
Sycamore Class have also elected, via a class vote, our School and Worship Councillors. We are looking forward to leading the beginning of Worship and attending our first meetings in the coming weeks.
