Smiling, Caring and Learning Together on a Journey with God
We had some very excited children in Oak Class once they saw a giant bouncy castle in our school hall on Friday. They predicted how many bounces they would do in a minute and most children whizzed past their expectations. They can bounce! Hopefully they can tell you how many bounces they did and can earn some sponsorship money for their efforts. Don't forget to bring in the sponsor forms and any money raised by next Friday.
Thank you and well done to all those of you who made such fantastic story boxes and posters for your home learning projects. They look fantastic and the children enjoyed showing them off to the rest of the class. Well done also to those children who have completed all the stamps on their first home reading sheet. They will receive their certificates in next week's celebration assembly.
In English we have focussed on another Julia Donaldson favourite - Room on a Broom. This has given us more opportunities to explore rhyme and get really good at writing super sentences. We have also been reading non-fiction/ information texts to find out more about the seasons.
Mathematics this week has been a mix of counting in 2s and 5s and also matching amounts to numbers and then to their number names. Have a try counting in 2s and 5s at home and see how you get on!
The children really enjoyed using treasure maps in Geography this week and creating their own. This has intoroduced them to using a simple key and the compass points, North, South, East and West.
In Science we had a look around our playground, identifying the different types of trees and deciding whether they were deciduous or evergreen. Take a look as you are out and about this week and see if you can find any more deciduous or evergreen trees.
