At the Beach
This week we have been writing about minibeasts. We read information books to find out about them and then wrote our facts: 'Bees have wings. Bees make honey. Caterpillars have lots of legs. Caterpillars turn into butterflies.'
In maths we have been sharing with a friend to find half of a number and also investigating capacity; Is the bucket full, empty or half-full?
Everyone took part in the sports day and really enjoyed doing all the different activities.
Our first half-term has finished and we have been talking about all the things we have done since Easter. "I love going to assembly and getting certificates." Connor. " I love to do PE," Philip. "My favourite thing is going on the Learnpads," Ruby. "I like playing with my friends," Charlie Storey. " I like to play with lego," Ivo. "I like dressing up," Aubree. "I like playing at Jack and the Beanstalk," Kinga.
This week we talked about what question the children would ask Jesus if they met him.
We have also been looking closely at how the cress and the beans in our classroom have been growing. We compared the beans growing on our windowsill to the ones we have left in the cupboard and discussed what was different about them. We talked about what the beans need to grow; "They need water and the sun."
We have also been talking about different times of the day and our daily routines. "I get up and put my clothes on." "I eat cereal and then I go to school."
This week in maths we have started to use the beebots and have been programming them to move around the classroom. Next week we will be developing our skills with the Beebots. In Literacy we have continued with Jack and the Beanstalk and have been writing about our favourite parts of the story. The cress has grown really well and we have started to grow some mangetout seeds. Let's see what happens. We might even get to eat them! If any of the children managed to plant their magic beans it would be great if they could bring photos to show the rest of the class how they are growing.
