Nyewood CE Infant School
Smiling, Caring and Learning Together on a Journey with God
An exciting first half-term!
Where has the time gone since we returned to school on the 4th September - we are already heading towards the half-term break! What an amazing first 5 weeks we have had, with all the children settling into their new classess and rising to the expectations of their new year groups. External educational visitors have commented on the good behaviour across the school and how excited and focussed the children are on their learning.
We have already had lots of stimuating events with our Harvest Services, and the Rainbow Theatre in to bring alive traditional tales. A new school council has been elected and the children were very excited at leading our worships with our school motto, "Smiling, caring and learning together on a journey with God" and lightening the candle. Whilst in worship today Early Years joined us so that, for the first time this year, we came together as the Nyewood Family. The focus of today's worship was the children explaining about the prayer boxes they have created in their classrooms and how they are going to use them in their class worships and their learning.
The school is also working with Chichester University students on a creativity project to develop an area of our school grounds and one of School Council's first jobs was to get their classes' ideas for the area - very exciting! Watch this space!
The staff enjoyed wonderful cakes across the day last week as we raised money for Macmillan Coffee Morning, in total over £50 - a lot of cake eating and not a calorie counter in sight that day!!!!!
Don't forget to sign up for a parent consultation the week of the 16th October and look out for PTA meeting flyers and letters.
Finally, do keep up to date with school events through the website, parentmail, newsletters and flyers. Coming soon... a celebration letter of the school's achievements and the areas of focus for this year school development plan.
Enjoy the weekend, when it gets here.
